BEER FEST IN THE VRNJACKA BANJA 2010 SERBIA

VRNJACKA BANJA - On the model of the Belgrade Beer Fest, a prestigious European event held in August, the Vrnjacka Banja spa, in central Serbia, is organizing another beer festival this weekend. This event is just a new asset to the rich offer of this well-known Serbian resort. More from Jelena Gligorić. A high-quality music programme, a large number of beer brands and free admission was, eight years ago, the basis of the Belgrade Cultural Network, the organizer of Beer Fest in the Serbian capital. This event gathers half a million visitors every year and in 2006 has been included by The Independent daily among ten most important events on this planet. A year later, in an international marketing textbook, it was cited as an example of a well-conceived PR campaign.
Other towns in Serbia as well are interested in organizing this festival and Marko Aleksic, the manager of the Belgrade Cultural Network, informs us that an offer has arrived from abroad as well. The festival in Vrnjacka Banja will be in the open air and admission will be free. The aim is to promote the spa’s tourist offer and provide young bands from central and western Serbia to take part in such a big festival, as some 40,000 guests are expected in the three days of the festivals. The festival’s slogan is Vrnjacka Beer Nights and musicians will include bands such as Inspektor Blaža i Kljunovi, Partibrejkersi, folk-pop singer Luis, bands YU grupa, Ortodoks Kelts, Galija, Divlje jagode. Beer fest has become the greatest event in Serbian rock, says Žika Jelić, YU grupa frontman. This event is a great opportunity for Serbian bands to show their achievements and plans and for us to see the in which direction the Serbian rock scene is going.
Dane Stanojčić, director of the Vrnjačka Banja Tourist Organization, confirms that in the summer, this spa town is a venue of numerous concerts and festivals. From 11 to 18 July, this town will host its traditional Carnival, sixth in turn, and in August it will host the traditional 34th Festival of Film Script.
A special type of Beer Fest beer will be presented in Vrnjačka Banja and will be sold soon all over Serbia.
